My fellow San Jose State University students. Let it be known that our school is home to a melting pot of diverse and talented individuals. While we all originate from various backgrounds and cultures, there is one thing for certain. We as students are all attending SJSU for one common goal. The goal to obtain the essential skills that will build for a brighter future. So why not take advantage of the valuable resources that accompany being a hardworking student?

As a senior at SJSU, even I am constantly stumbling upon more and more useful resources. Beneficial tools that are commonly overlooked by countless students because they are simply oblivious to them. Luckily, being involved with extracurriculars such as the Marketing Association provides an excellent outlet to stay informed with advantageous campus resources. This is why I have decided to create a personalized list of my Top 5 Free Student Resources that I feel are both beneficial to self-development and practical to college students.

1. Lynda.com

Have you ever found yourself searching endlessly for video tutorials? Well look no further. Lynda.com is an amazing website that offers free in-depth video courses that are taught by industry experts. Your progress will constantly be saved and you even get a certificate of completion that can be connected to your LinkedIn account.

2. Handshake

Handshake is a password protected online job database that provides students with exclusive job and internship opportunities. You can personalize your account to cater to specific career positions and apply numerous job listings.

3. Adobe Cloud

The Adobe Creative cloud equips students with numerous applications and services utilized for graphic design, video editing, web development, photography, and much more. I have found programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere extremely useful for group work and personal projects.

4. Microsoft Office

Microsoft Office 365 provides students with essential programs such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote and more. These are core applications that all students will have to use at some point in both their college and professional career.

5. Amazon Prime

Amazon Prime is one of my most favorite perks that accompany being a student. As a student, you are eligible to receive a 6-month free trial and various other deals. Once your trial ends, you are immediately qualified to receive a student discount. This tool come extremely handy when ordering textbooks and other necessities.
